Happy Spring?

This week we welcome our last speaker in this year’s series, Mike DeBonis, executive director of the Green Mountain Club.

Whether you’re new to hiking or an avid hiker, Green Mountain Club Executive Director Mike DeBonis has tips for you. Join us in Bootleggers’ Lounge at 1:00 on Wednesday, Feb. 25, with your lunch. Mike will begin speaking at 1:30. All ages are welcome. Free for members. A requested donation of $5 for guests.

Poppy Gall got in touch to say that The Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum is seeking a paid, part-time (or fill-in) front desk associate for the remainder of the season, with the option to continue beyond. This flexible, one-day-a-week role is well suited to someone with a friendly presence, basic computer skills, and an enthusiasm for skiing and riding. More details below.

Mark you calendar’s for this year’s St Patrick’s pot luck at the Yurt on Wednesday March 18th. Same format as usual.

The following week, March 25th, we will hold the annual end of season banquet – though the way things look now we could be skiing in August.

We are of course still looking for ski tip nominations. I have about four so far – we have been careful or shy this year. We would be happy to hear about anything club or ski related that deserves kind hearted, if humorous, recognition.

See ya’ Wednesday, 9:00 in the Oak Room in the Morse Mountain Grill

The  Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum is looking for a paid, part-time (or fill-in) front desk associate.

The position pays $15.50 per hour, with shifts running 5.25 hours (11:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.). They are hoping to find someone who can work at least one day per week, with the possibility of additional hours. Their immediate priority is coverage for the remainder of the current season, with the option to continue beyond that if desired. The museum is closed from mid-April until Memorial Day weekend.

Because of the part-time schedule, this role could be an especially good fit for a retired person with a flexible schedule. While winter travel to the Stowe side of the Notch can be a bit of a haul, they would also welcome help in the summer and fall.

Responsibilities include light computer work related to retail sales, handling credit card and cash transactions, providing a friendly and welcoming presence for visitors, and assisting with other light tasks as needed. Weekend shifts are typically solo and include opening and closing duties. The museum is open Thursday through Sunday, 12:00–5:00 p.m.

Anyone interested should contact Abby Blackburn, Executive Director, at 802-253-9911 or Abby@vtssm.org
