Shortbread?
Yup, Shortbread!
In years past a worthy member brought the shortbread for the strawberries bash. You know who you are. We don’t ☹ . If you are up for this again, please get in touch with Ann Fano at afano@comcast.net .
WALK : JUNE 17TH
RSVP to: jean.kearney@verizon.net.
Our first club walk will be on Wednesday, June 17, at Cady Hill Forest in Stowe (NOT Cady Falls in Morristown!) on Route 108 in Stowe. We will meet in the parking lot at 10:00 AM. Directions at this link
We will be walking the Macutchan Loop trail shown in green on the map at this link: Cady_Hill_Forest_Trails.pdf
Website: Cady Hill Forest – Stowe Land Trust
The walk is a bit more than 3 miles on clear trails through woodland with an elevation gain of 350 feet. There is some uphill at the start of the trail, but nothing too difficult. Our test walk took about 1 hour and 45 minutes at a fairly leisurely pace.
The Cady Hill trails are popular with mountain bikers, but we only saw about a half dozen bikers during our walk, and we had no issues at all.
If you are a mountain biker, you can come for a ride while we walk.
We are planning to stop for lunch at Idletyme Brewery after the walk. All are welcome to join us.
We will be in touch on Wednesday morning if the weather looks iffy.

STRAWBERRIES WITH A VIEW : WEDNESDAY JUNE 24
The legendary, ever popular, Stawberries with a spectacular view.
Noon to whenever.
RSVP’s not requested.
1385 Mckinstry Hill Road, Hyde Park.
Please follow signs for parking.
Bring a chair a dish to share and any personal libations 😉.
Hamburgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers will be provided along with water.
FIRST CLUB HIKE : THURSDAY, JUNE 25TH
The perfect offset for Fragaria × ananassaian overindulgence.
Meet at 9am at the parking lot at the information station in the Notch.
Please RSVP to Kate at: katestrolle@gmail.com or by text at: (530)798-6319.
There is limited parking, so it may be a good idea to carpool. The trail is 2.2 miles to the pond with 938 feet of elevation. The trail is considered to be a moderate hike, but it is rocky and steep in some places. We will take it nice and slow!
Make sure to dress appropriately, and wear sturdy hiking shoes or trail runners, bring plenty of water, snacks, bug spray and sunscreen!
Depending on what time we finish, there will be an option to grab a drink or get lunch somewhere in Jeffersonville.
If the weather does not cooperate, we will let folks know of a possible alternative date.
Please RSVP to Kate at: katestrolle@gmail.com or by text at: (530)798-6319.
