Rifle shooting event at the Just For Fun range in Fairfax

$10 cover charge.

Wednesday, June 3, 10am-noon.

88 Fanton Road, Fairfax

Directions at this link

Participants will shoot .22 rimfire rifles at paper targets at 50 or 100 yards. These rifles have little recoil and make little noise. No experience or special skills required. The rifles will be supported by a rest or bipod; this is called benchrest shooting. Experienced shooters will be on the range to help. There will be one .222 centerfire rifle for those who want to try it. The JFF range has 12 benches, and there is a roof over the benches. We will shoot in any weather except a thunderstorm.

All rifles, ammunition, and targets will be provided. We will have eye and ear protection available, but please bring your own if you wish. Prescription glasses are suitable eye protection. You will need to sign a liability waiver to shoot.

The cost is $10 to cover supplies and pizza lunch. Water and soft drinks will be provided.

The JFF range is at 88 Fanton Road in Fairfax. Fanton Road is a dead-end road off the Fletcher-Fairfax Road near the Fletcher-Fairfax town line. Mapping programs may think the address is 88 Fanton Road in Cambridge because that is the mailing address. Look for the club’s sandwich board on Fletcher Rd.

Information about the JFF range can be found on their website:

Please contact George Putnam with any questions: gsputnam@gmail.com or 802-309-7598 (cell).

First Ride JUNE 10th:

Meet at the Cambridge LVRT Trail Head in Cambridge at 10:00 on Wednesday, June 10th for a run to Johnson and back About 15 miles round trip. I’m suggesting we head into Johnson to Jenna’s Place for coffee/tea/water, snack or lunch,  before heading back.  The intrepid can of course go further (Morrisville would be about 30 miles round trip. Unfortunately, Lost Nation is closed on Wednesday).
