PADDLING

Location: Missisquoi River, Wildlife Refuge, Louie’s Landing.
Date: Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026
Time: 10:00 AM .
Organized by Flora Hurteau

Wednesday, September 2nd: Meet at Louie’s Landing 10:00 am- Missisquoi River, Swanton; located on Rte 78. It is on the river just less than four miles from Swanton town center at Mac’s Bend Rd.

Directions at this link, add your departure address to show the route.

There is ample parking at Louie’s Landing, a State of Vermont boat access area. There are no restrooms, but there are restrooms at the Wildlife Refuge, a couple of miles from the boat launch.

This is a calm paddle with an abundance of waterfowl. We can launch and paddle to the mouth of the Missisquoi River where it empties into the Missisquoi Bay on Lake Champlain, just short of the US/ Canada border.

Bring water, lunch or snacks (if you desire) and your paddling gear. Get ready for a peace filled paddle surrounded by the wildlife of the river. For anyone who would like to eat a late lunch out, Green Mountain Bistro Bar and Grill is located on the way back into Swanton at 3 Canada St. They are open for lunch until 3pm.

BIKE RIDE

Location: Stowe Bike Path, 75 Brook Rd, Stowe.
Date: Wednesday, September 9th, 2026
Time: 10:00am
Organized by Keith Gross, kbgrossra@aol.com

With Labor Day behind us, things should be a bit less crowded in Stowe, so we will be riding the Stowe Recreation Path. It is 5.5 miles long, so an easy ride.

Gather at the north end of the Stowe Recreation Path by 75 Brook Road just past the Innsbruck Inn/topnotch Resort at 10:00AM.

We will ride the path to Stowe Center, walk around to stretch our legs then return up to the Idletyme Brewery for lunch. Idletyme is right on the Path so easy to access before returning to the parking lot at the north end of the path.
